Otago Polytechnic Snowboard Instructor Course

This is what we consider to be the ultimate snowboard instructor training course in the world. The course is run through the Otago Polytechnic and delivered by the Cardrona Instructor Training Centre. It is the only programme of its kind that is industry-based.

18 weeks June to end of season

SBINZ Levels One and Two

Run through Otago Polytechnic for NZ residents only!

Cardrona employs all the students as ski or snowboard instructors right at the beginning of the season. The training is designed to prepare student to teach within the school as soon as possible. Once they are ready and start teaching the training becomes integrated with the teaching experience. The students are treated as staff and are part of our Cardrona Ski and Snowboard School team.

Students have all the benefit of being in tertiary education in New Zealand.

The course covers a huge curriculum and the outcomes are far wider than any other instructor training course. These include:

  • The Otago Polytechnic Certificate in Snowsport Instructing (Ski or Snowboard)
  • The SFRITO National Certificate in snowschool (L3)
  • SBINZ Levels One and Two
  • Formal teaching hours
  • Snow school employment reference letter
